How to read the Sierra Nevada snow report
This page brings together the weather forecast and current conditions at the resort. The day-by-day forecast comes from AEMET (the Spanish State Meteorological Agency) for Monachil, the municipality where the resort is located. The data refreshes every 15 minutes, and the AEMET forecast at most once an hour.
The table by area
It shows temperature, feels-like temperature, wind (in km/h), humidity and expected snowfall over 24 hours for Pradollano, Borreguiles, Laguna de las Yeguas, Veleta and the Radiotelescopio. Figures marked "measured" come from the AEMET automatic station at the Radiotelescopio. Those marked "estimated" are a calculation by the Open-Meteo model for each point, so they may differ from what you feel on the mountain.
Freezing level and wind
The freezing level, shown in the summary above, is the altitude above which the temperature drops below zero degrees. The higher you are, the more you feel the wind, and on the peaks it is usually stronger than in Pradollano.
Altitudes
Each area's altitude is that of the calculation point and may differ by a few dozen meters from its usual quoted elevation. Pradollano, the heart of the resort, is at about 2,100 m.
